Marika styled both my fiance and I in December of 2022. We were traveling to London to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s with my fiance’s family and we both wanted to see about working with a stylist in one of the fashion capitals of the world.
We came in with a tall order. We wanted someone who could build us both a wardrobe with casual, smart casual, and formal wear. Plus since we travel a lot we needed tropical and cold weather options for all those occasions too.
I had looked at about 15 different personal stylists in London before deciding on Marika. I had a hunch that she would be the best choice - and I was absolutely correct.
It was the first time meeting my fiance’s parents and family and I hadn’t been shopping in years. So I couldn’t have been more thankful to Marika for dressing me for such an important life event. I felt well put together and confident so I could focus on having fun instead of being preoccupied by self-conscious thoughts. Marika found me these killer white boots and those were a real hit with a few members of the family.
In his new outfits, he received several compliments from strangers (both men and women!) while he was doing holiday gift shopping. Plus, his brother and his wife were so impressed with the outfits he showed up in at the family gatherings over the holidays that they asked for Marika’s contact information. I wasn’t surprised... he looks amazing in his new threads!
Marika helped me to get out of the fashion ruts that I wasn’t happy with but didn’t know how to change. I went in with a frumpy work-from-home athleisure wear look and came out looking like a modern woman with the touch of edge I was looking for. Most of the other stylists I saw seemed like the finished looks of their clients came out boring and without any personality. I’m so thrilled with my new style. I actually get excited to get dressed in the morning now vs. dreading it. I loved learning about colors that look best on my skin tone. There are 2 colors that I would never have thought suited me but now I am a fan of wearing them both. Plus with some of the figure-hugging and feminine items Marika picked out for me really wowed my fiance - so that was a bonus!
My fiance and I have learned so much from her... everywhere we go now, we see what she’s taught us about fashion. And it’s been fun to learn about the best colors and styles that suit each other, so now him and I are always spotting items that we know would look good on each other.
Besides having exceptional taste, Marika went above and beyond to accommodate us during the busy holiday season.
When clothing websites wouldn’t ship out online orders due to the Christmas season in the timelines promised, she found solutions.
When I asked to see different types of fashion styles after my first day of styling, she worked over the weekend to style me for another full day on short notice.
When a shipment of clothing arrived at her home during the middle of one of our styling sessions she had someone go pick up the box of clothing and drive it to us in downtown London.
When we needed alterations on 20+ items she took them to her favorite tailor (on 2 separate occasions!), had them altered and shipped to another part of the UK so we’d have them before we left the country.
It’s true that hiring a private stylist and shopper is a luxury service however, I have rarely booked something where the value received was so much greater than the fees for the service provided. We both agree we just can’t go back to the old way of shopping again. You save a ton of time, you get a better final outcome as all of your outfits have a MUCH more cohesive look, and less hassle. You don’t have to trudge through store after store trying to find clothing that you like and that’s in your size or wait in long fitting rooms or checkout lines.
Plus, she put together detailed and customized reports for us to reference if we do want to do shopping on our own.
In total, we spent 4 full days with Marika learning about color, our body types and trying on clothing.
It was such a fantastic experience that we’ve arranged for another shopping day when we return in June so that she can pull spring and summer-related looks for us. Not only do we look forward to seeing what treasures she’ll find for us this next go around, we are also excited to spend time with her again too! She’s got a lovely personality so hanging out in a changeroom with her for 8+ hours is a joy. :)
